I wish I could give credit, where it's due, for this little snack but unfortunately I can't remember where I got the idea.  Good Housekeeping?  Food Network?  It's probably one of those sources.

Anyway, there are recent studies out about the health benefits of our little tuber friends.  Turns out that those orange (or purple) fleshed sugary-tasting little chunks of food that most people associate with Thanksgivin...

This little number came from The Good Housekeeping Magazine.  It takes a bit longer to prepare than I usually like for morning meals, but it's totally worth it.

In a greased baking dish, combine 1 cup each old-fashioned oats and quinoa, 1/2 cup roasted almonds, 3 Tbsp chia seeds and 1 tsp baking powder.  Pour a mix of 2-3/4 cups milk, 1 Tbsp melted butter and 1 Tbsp vanilla on to.  Top with 3 cups berries and ba...

I've never had an urge to order biscuits and gravy for breakfast, but my Mom loves this country-style comfort food.  I will say that the restaurant stuff never compares to the recipe my Mom uses at home.  Sometimes when she makes an egg breakfast, she will make a yummy sausage gravy to pour over skillet-fried potatoes.

She actually whipped up this morning meal for Avie the last time she and my Dad watched her overnight.  I...

Avie loves pizza.  Like, really loves pizza.  Her love affair started the day I dressed her up in an apron and put her on a stool next to me at the counter so she could help me make a pizza for dinner.

The toppings and directions were simple; smear the sauce, sprinkle on the chopped pepperoni, onion, roasted bell peppers and cheese.  She stood back while I stuck it in the oven and then watched it bake eagerly through...

Every once in awhile I will make a vegetarian meal for my family.  I think it's good to think outside the "chicken" and fill yourself up with yummy, healthy veggies.  So, last week I chose this Roasted Vegetable Chili with Cornbread Biscuits recipe and it took the cake!  I am craving it right now, actually.

The awesome thing about this recipe is that it cooks all together on one baking sheet.  It's like a one pa...

My little Avie is on yet another antibiotic.  I think I've lost count of how many times she has had to take one- but I guess it's par for the course with Cystic Fibrosis.  Anyway, I'm back on the gut-health battle ground and pushing probiotics.

It's a bit harder this time and I think it's because she really doesn't feel very good.  Her appetite isn't where it usually is.  The one thing that she rarely refuses is yogur...

Peas are one of the vegetables I can't seem to sneak by Avie.  Every once in a while, if they are well-hidden in layers and layers of other delicious morsels, she will eat them.

But I can't really blame her for not liking them.... I don't even like them.  I eat them because I am an adult and I know they are good for me and because the color green, doesn't taste all that bad to me anymore.

So why bother trying to stash them in Av...

We've been getting Blue Apron.

It comes once a week, and contains all the ingredients for two, four-serving, meals.  It's been a life-saver for me, because for those two nights- I don't have to search for recipes, raid our refrigerator or scramble out to the grocery store.

The other reason I like it is because I am the mother of a 2-year old, culinary-snob who won't eat the same thing more than two times, unless there is a large...

When I was younger, my brother and I would make peanut butter and honey sandwiches for summer lunches.  My brother did all the hard work; few spoonfuls of PB and a glob or two of honey, mix it all together and then spread it on some bread. Then we would sit down to enjoy the melty creation while we watched The Frighteners for probably the 50th time in a row.  It's a miracle we weren't obese!

I used to crave these sug...
