Comfort. Sanity. calm.
These are just a few words I've used to describe my first a glass of wine after a long, hard day. It's my "me-time", which is much-deserved after moments like this one. But, even though it's a nice way to unwind, or cope... it would be nice to have a bit of zen practices woven throughout the day, every day.
I know I'm not the only Mom who feels like a hot-mess, just struggling to keep up with the daily demands of child-rearing, career-growing, laundry-folding life. So, how do we get back the sanity?
The first step is to go to the book store and grab one of these two beauties:
Motherhood is a B#tch, by Lyss Stern
The Happiest Mommy you Know, by Genevieve Shaw Brown
I personally preferred Genevieve's book, simply because she is more my speed. Lyss is a bit more of a "Diva"- though her thoughts are still valid. Both books talk about common subjects like; fashion, eating well, exercising and making time for YOUR friends. I'm pretty sure, either book will make you want to eat a salad and wipe the dust off your jogging stroller, so you really can't go wrong, here.
The bottom line is finding ways (and motivation) to carve out some "me-time" and building in some self-care that doesn't have to wait for the baby monitor to be silent or the cork to be popped.
